Meeting someone from the internet for a workout requires trust. And trust should be earned, not assumed.

Whether you're using Sweatty or any other platform to find training partners, these safety practices are non-negotiable.
Before You Meet
1. Verify Their Identity
Never meet someone who hasn't verified their identity. At minimum, check for:
- A verified profile badge — meaning the platform has confirmed their ID
- A real photo — not a stock image or celebrity picture
- Consistent information — name, age, and location should make sense
Sweatty requires government ID + live selfie verification before anyone can match. If a platform doesn't verify users, consider that a red flag.
2. Tell Someone Where You're Going
Before every first session, tell a trusted friend or family member:
- Who you're meeting (share their profile)
- Where you're meeting (exact venue)
- What time you'll be done
- A code word that means "call me immediately"
3. Research the Venue
Choose a location you know. A busy public gym, a popular park, or a well-lit running track. Never agree to:
- Someone's home gym (first few sessions)
- Isolated outdoor locations
- Indoor venues without other people present

During the Session
4. Share Your Live Location
Turn on live location sharing with a trusted contact. Most phones have this built in:
- iPhone: Find My → Share My Location
- Android: Google Maps → Location Sharing
Sweatty has this built into every session — your chosen emergency contacts can see your location in real time during active sessions.
5. Keep Your Phone Charged and Accessible
Your phone is your lifeline. Keep it:
- Above 50% battery when you arrive
- In your pocket or armband (not locked in a locker)
- With emergency contacts on speed dial
6. Trust Your Instincts
If something feels off — leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Signs to watch for:
- They look significantly different from their profile
- They pressure you to go to a different location
- They make inappropriate comments
- They seem intoxicated or erratic
A genuine training partner will understand if you need to reschedule.
7. Know the Emergency Protocol
On Sweatty, the SOS button is always one tap away during active sessions. It simultaneously:
- Alerts your emergency contacts with your GPS location
- Sends an alert to the Sweatty safety team
- Provides a direct link to call local emergency services
In the UAE, dial 999 for police. In the UK, dial 999 or 112.
After the Session
8. Rate Your Partner Honestly
After every session, rate your partner on:
- Safety — did they behave appropriately?
- Punctuality — did they show up on time?
- Overall experience — would you train with them again?
Honest ratings protect the community. A partner with consistently low safety scores gets flagged for review and eventually removed.
9. Report Any Concerns
If something felt wrong — even if you can't pinpoint exactly what — report it. Sweatty's trust and safety team reviews every report within 24 hours.
You can also block any user at any time. They'll never be suggested to you again and won't know you blocked them.
